Renewing Dandenong

Despite the news of the Global Financial Crisis, Dandenong is going through its biggest redevelopment in 60 years. The city is already Victorias biggest after Melbourne and has been singled out by VicUrban for major works. A new street is to be created between Foster and Walker streets. We are also surrounded by infrastructure works including new telstra and optus cabling, new gas and water mains, and starting soon the upgrading of storm water drains.

While this is happening we will have to be patient with reduced parking in the service lane on Lonsdale street. There is still ample parking along Lonsdale street towards Ritchies supermarket and at the Gardens over the Highway.

The latest issue of Your Eyes has some great reading on Macula Degeneration and the latest in frame fashion. It also describes the manufacturing process for optical Lenses. As technology has become more advanced we have new methods of shaping lenses, also we have access to denser clearer plastics with specialised coatings. All these features make it possible to offer clearer vision with wider fields of view, less magnification and distortion, in thinner, lighter lenses.

With the proliferation of poor quality frames and cheap lens materials/designs it can be very confusing about why spectacles can vary so much. It is worth learning what quality optics can offer our vision.
