Sumba Eyecare Trip 2018

Sumba Eyecare Trip 2018

Another successful trip to Sumba Indonesia for the Sumba Eyecare Team.
The team consisted of 4 Optometrists, 3 eye surgeons, 2 nurses and support team. They were ably assisted by The Indonesian eye team and our Eye care nurses. In just 1 short week, the team saw 1234 people in centra Sumba region, providing 1146 pairs of glasses and 128 surgical procedures!

We now have a new treatment available at our practice, Blephasteam goggles. What is Meares-Irlen syndrome?

Simply explained, Meares-Irlen syndrome (MIS) is characterised by symptoms of visual stress and visual perceptual distortions when looking at patterns, particularly stripes.  Such symptoms can occur despite normal vision.  For those who have symptoms of MIS, pages of print can resemble a visually stressful pattern making it uncomfortable to look at.
