 Adrian Vecchio

Optometrist

Hi I’m Adrian, I’m one of the optometrists and Co-owner of The Eye Collective.

A chance meeting with Norm Russo in 2013 (at a golf charity day) led to me discovering Behavioural Optometry. Once I found that I could further help my patients, I was hooked.

Since that time I have undertaken significant extra training to try and understand my patient’s visual systems better. I have also been a clinical supervisor at Melbourne University, written several articles for optometry magazines, presented talks to schools and allied health providers. Recently I also delivered educational webinars at an international vision conference.

I love all aspects of optometry, with special interests in Children’s Vision, Turned and Lazy Eye treatments using VR Technology, OrthoK and Keratoconus contact lens fitting and Vision Related Learning problems. I am also able to provide Aviation Eye Examinations

I am also passionate about ensuring that parents are looking after their own eyes, as unfortunately many parents’ needs, (usually Mums), get overlooked. However as Mums are the most important member of the household, it is essential that their eyecare needs are looked after too!

Norm Russo

Optometrist (Extended Leave)

Hello, I’m Norm Russo, co-owner of The Eye Collective. From April 2023, after over 35 years in optometry,  I will be retiring.  It has been an honour and privilege to serve our patients and the community, and I am grateful for the trust and loyalty you have shown me over the years.

As I retire, I am confident in the future of The Eye Collective. My colleague Adrian, who has been in the business for 7 years, has purchased the practice and is committed to continuing the same high-quality care that our patients have come to expect. I recommend that my patients continue to see Adrian or any of the other trained optometrists at the practice.

Throughout my career, I have enjoyed working with patients of all ages and backgrounds, especially those with complex vision difficulties. Listening to my patients’ needs has always been a top priority, and I have found that tailored treatment plans lead to the best outcomes.

Since starting the practice in 1986, I have focused on developing expertise in advanced contact lens fitting, behavioural optometry, learning-related vision difficulties, and pathology co-management. I am proud to be a Fellow of the Australian College of Optometry and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists.

I would like to thank our patients, staff, and the community for their support over the years. It has been a pleasure to be a part of your vision care journey. In my spare time, I plan to pursue my passions for golfing and spending time with my family.

Grace Tung

Optometrist

Hi I’m Grace, I have been an optometrist at The Eye Collective since 2018.

After graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2015, I initially worked in central Gippsland for 3 years. Here I gained fantastic experience in many aspects of optometry, including prescribing therapeutics and co-management with eye specialists and healthcare professionals. Since joining The Eye Collective, I have developed special interests in Behavioural Optometry, Myopia Control and Dry Eye Treatment. I find these areas of optometry fascinating as they help make a big contribution to my patients lives. I believe the key to achieving the best vision for my patients is by having open communication, so that together we can come up with a personalised plan to suit that person’s visual needs.

Sashini Fair, Optometrist, The Eye Collective

Sashini Fair

Optometrist

Hi, I’m Sashini and I have been an Optometrist at the Eye Collective since 2004.

Since graduating 25 years ago, I have undertaken further training with particular interest in behavioural optometry.

After completing the Master’s Unit in Behavioural Optometry in 2005, I undertook further training in Complex Contact Lens Fittings, including OrthoKeratology. More recently I have developed expertise with further training in Neuro-Optometric care and patients with special needs (eg. Autism).

I am also qualified to provide aviation eye examinations having undergone the CASA credentialed training program.

Being a musician, playing with the Stonnington Symphony orchestra and teaching piano and violin is something I am passionate about. It also allows me to understand the specific visual needs of musicians.

My philosophy is to take the time to understand the varied needs of each individual, so that I can help to tailor a solution to suit their visual requirements with sensitivity and understanding.

Ally Li

Optometrist

Hi I’m Ally, I have been an Optometrist at The Eye Collective since 2021.

My journey into optometry started with a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Melbourne in 2019. During my degree, I was fortunate to have some amazing experiences completing my overseases clinical placement at OMNI Eye Services in New Jersey and volunteering work in Sri Lanka.

After graduating, I spent two enriching years at a respected optometry clinic in South Gippsland, diving deep into eye diseases, emergency care, and, close to my heart, myopia control—something I’ve been personally battling since I was 12.

In 2022, I leveled up my skills with an Advanced Contact Lens course at the Australian College of Optometry, learning the intricacies of fitting Orthokeratology lenses and tackling challenges in fitting specialty contact lenses for patients with various eye conditions like keratoconus.

Since joining The Eye Collective in 2021, I’ve been introduced to the world of behavioral optometry. I have completed numerous additional training courses in behavioral optometry since then, building my skills and knowledge in holistic eye care for children and patients of all ages.

Ally Li

Optometrist

Hi I’m Ally, I have been an Optometrist at The Eye Collective since 2021.

Before graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2019, I completed my overseas clinical placement in OMNI Eye Services in New Jersey and volunteered in Sri Lanka. This humbling experience truly allowed me to understand that I can make a difference in the world by making things better for each individual patient that I see.

After graduating, I worked in a well reputed independent Optometry clinic in the South Gippsland area for 1.5 years. Where I gained more experience and knowledge in the management of  various eye diseases and ocular emergencies, prescribing therapeutics, children’s eyecare and myopia control

Being short sighted for 15 years, I have always had a passion in myopia control and help slow down children’s progression for both vision and eye health reasons. I am currently in the process of completing my Advanced Contact Lens course to enable me to provide the best options to my patients.

I take pride in delivering holistic care to each patient by taking the time to understand their needs and lifestyle. I’m also passionate in helping our global citizens who have recently moved to Australia to understand our unique eyecare system and make the most out of it.
